Volunteer Workshop Follow-up: Volunteer Kit

volunteer (1)This has been a year where we have endeavoured to show our many volunteers how much we appreciate their contribution and value their time, their ideas, their feedback, and their incredible willingness to contribute to TBI.

Earlier in the year, we ran two workshops, one for Committee/Group convenors, the second for our many volunteers. Part of each workshop focussed on sharing TBI’s direction and plans, part gave participants the opportunity to comment on what works well for them and to suggest what needs to be improved.

Many of the suggestions were a quest for information e.g. who is on the Board, who are TBI’s staff, is there a list of TBI’s many volunteer groups, are we insured, what are TBI’s emergency procedures, what are my obligations and rights as a volunteer, do you offer any training? To respond to these questions, we have produced a Volunteer Kit which contains answers to these questions and more. We can now join other state of the art not-for-profit organisations in being proud of the guidelines written, knowing that TBI cares deeply for its volunteers and wants to recognise them well, sometimes with aliyot, lunches and badges and always with the care of excellent governance.
