Alternative Shabbat Experiences
Gesher Shabbat
Gesher Shabbat, so named after the Hebrew word for “bridge,” is a service that seeks to fulfill its title: connecting community members to prayer and providing an alternative path for spiritual engagement. Within this prayer experience, there is opportunity for both musical connection and textual learning, as Gesher features both guitar-accompanied music and a stimulating group discussion about the Torah portion of the week. This intimate, lay-led Shabbat morning service takes place on the second Saturday of each month in the Friedlander Synagogue.
Hineinu
Hineinu is our new alternative Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv experience, providing an opportunity for personal and communal prayer in a tranquil yet invigorating setting. Lay led by Patrick Prunster and Elizabeth Riordan, Hineinu offers a contemplative spiritual journey with traditional liturgy. It takes place on the third Friday of each month in the Friedlander Synagogue.
