Nourish

Recommencing 7 December 2020!

‘If a stranger comes and says, “I am hungry. Please give me food”, we must immediately give him food.’ (Mishnah Torah 6:6)

Jewish tradition explicitly commands us to feed the hungry.

nourish is TBI’s initiative to feed the disadvantaged in our community, in partnership with the Father Bob Maguire Foundation.

Commencing in March 2016, every Monday night in Alma Park, regardless of weather, TBI members and other volunteers served hot meals to those in need in our neighbourhood. In July 2017, they added a lunchtime hot soup and bread service on Wednesdays and Thursday near Carlisle Street.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, nourish was forced to temporarily suspend its services earlier in the year. They are due to recommence on December 7.

nourish is an ongoing project that continues to require volunteers and donations in order to operate. Volunteers are needed to drive the nourish van, cook, set up, serve food and clean up. Shifts are on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. If you would like to volunteer, or for more information, please contact 9510 1488.

We would like to thank the City of Port Phillip for their support through a Community Meals subsidy.
