Rabbi Gersh Zylberman Rabbi Dr. Gersh Zylberman MBBS(Hons), MAHL. 

Rabbi Zylberman grew up at TBI and joined our rabbinic team following his ordination at the US-based Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in May, 2005. He received his education at The King David School, Melbourne High School and Monash University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Hons) in 1995. He worked as a resident medical officer at The Alfred Hospital from 1996-1999 before moving into the rabbinate. During the five year post-graduate rabbinic training program Rabbi Zylberman lived in Jerusalem, Israel; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Orange County, California, and served a number of congregations in the US including Temple Bat Yahm, Newport Beach, California.  

Rabbi Zylberman is the coordinator of the Victorian Union for Progressive Judaism’s Introduction to Judaism program, a member of the Alfred Hospital Ethics Committee, the State Zionist Council of Victoria and the B’nai Brith interfaith committee and sits on the King David School council. He is an honorary chaplain in the Victoria Police. Rabbi Zylberman has particular interests in pastoral counseling, medical ethics and liturgical music and is married to TBI Rabbi, Rayna Gevurtz. They are blessed with two daughters, Adira and Noa, and a shnoodle named Elisheva-Schnitzel.
